SHOWS

An important part of any breeding programme is to regularly attend and compete at shows.  Cat shows allow licensed judges, fellow breeders, and the public the chance to give us feedback.  Although each breeder tends to prefer and emphasize certain qualities that they feel are the essence of a Birman, it is essential that we be evaluated as to how closely we are following the overall breed standard.

TICA (The International Cat Association) along with a Breed Committee determines and constantly regulates that standard.  The onus is on the breeders to remain faithful to that standard, as well as ensure good health and loving personalities in our cats.  This cannot be done in a vacuum. 

I make every effort to attend several shows each year.  Through showing, I have been blessed with many new friends and gained so much information about all cats.  This has made me a more knowledgeable and competent breeder.
